WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
GIVING YOU INSIGHTS & DISPELLING THE MYTHS...
And very briefly before we dive in,
I just wanted to make it clear that overarching theme of what I want to project is
Honesty & Transparency.
Hypnosis is built on the foundations of
Trust & Rapport between Hypnotist & Client.
And I get it,
a lot of companies fill your mind with inauthentic sales, marketing & psychologically strategised
bullsh*t in order to rope you in.
But that's not my approach.
As you'll probably quickly realise once you start to consume my content...
There will be swearing. There will a direct approach. There will be "going against the grain".
But despite the approach being slightly different, it's all with positive intention.
With Honesty, Transparency & Authenticity all being at the forefront of the outcome.
Anyway, back to what Hypnosis is/isn't & how Hypnosis can benefit your life....
"THE MYSTERY IS THE MOST INTERESTING PART..."
After 100's of years of this phenomena being intensely studied by the people within the hypnotic world,
we still can't definitively agree on what it actually is or how it actually works.
And that's the most fascinating aspect of it.
The aspect of MYSTIQUE.
There are a range of varying interpretations from all ends of Hypnotic academia but if
there's one thing for sure, it's that it works!
(when done correctly...)
But rather than tell you
"exactly what it is & exactly how it works",
(because no one truly knows)
,
I'll give you some more context in the most simplest form...
"HYPNOSIS CAN BE MADE TO APPEAR COMPLICATED, BUT, IT'S BEST TO KEEP IT SIMPLE..."
From my perspective,
I try to remove all the scientific jargon & make it as easy as possible & as simple as possible for the average person to understand.
Rather than deep diving into things like the Anterior Cingulate Cortex, the Prefrontal Cortex, the Amygdala, the exact formation of Neural Pathways, the Neurons or the smallest & finest details of every single Synapse,
(because it's unnecessary for Hypnosis to occur),
I explain that Hypnosis is nothing more than
The "Activation Of Your Imagination".
And the "Activation Of Your Imagination" is done in 3 simple steps:
1) The Narrowing Of Your Attention To A Fixed Point.
2) The Heightening Of Your Focus On That Fixed Point.
3) Believing, Expecting & Accepting What Suggestions Are Being Given From That Fixed Point.
(Of course there's more to it from the side of
The Hypnotist, but from the side of The Client,
those 3 things are the simplest way to paint the picture.)
Narrow Attention.
Heighten Focus.
Believe, Expect & Accept.
Pretty simple, right?.
If all 3 steps are done with intent,
it leads to the "Activation Of Your Imagination" & by default, the state of Hypnosis naturally occurring.
"HYPNOSIS IS A NATURALLY OCCURRING STATE.
THE BEST COMPARISON TO USE IS WATCHING FILMS..."
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state that we all enter in & out of throughout the day.
Things such as Daydreaming, Watching Movies/TV Series, Reading Books, Listening To Podcasts & even sitting down to get the latest update on the most recent Gossip, often sends us into an internalised state of focus & deep into our imagination where we start to piece together the story & visualise it within our minds.
And that state we enter,
where we become consumed by & immersed in the thoughts we are focusing on,
is very similar to Hypnosis.
We'll use an easy example.
Films. A horror film.
When some people sit down & watch a horror film in their living room, they will end up hid behind a pillow unable to look at the screen, their heart beating out of their chest & them screaming, shouting or even crying!
Because in that moment, whilst their
Attention Is Narrowed to the TV,
Their Focus is Heightened on The Film,
and
They are Believing, Expecting & Accepting the things which are being said & done in the film,
their mind is perceiving that situation to be real!
Causing an array of emotions & behaviours to activate & transpire in their mind & body.
In this example Fear.
Causing them to hide behind the pillow, their heart to start racing & them to scream, shout or even cry.
All whilst sat in their very safe living room.
But the same can be true for any film/emotion.
Romance = Happy.
Mystery = Intrigue.
Drama = Suspense.
Comedy = Laughter.
Action = Excitement.
True Story = Sadness.
etc etc.
Because when in a heightened state of focus, your mind doesn't know what's truly real or fake.
It just acts accordingly as if you are living the reality that you're immersed in.
Causing your body to automatically behave & act the way your mind is thinking & feeling
in that moment.
"THE MIND LEADS,
THE BODY FOLLOWS..."
Because, when we break it down,
The Mind Leads & The Body Follows.
The brain is the operating system.
The body is the vehicle.
The same is true for Hypnosis.
We activate the imagination to facilitate & create a brand new reality.
And rather than it be the same fear & negatives from the horror film, we facilitate a new, positive &
self-empowering reality for you to live within & prosper in.
We create a new, positive & productive lens for you to perceive the world through.
Resulting in you living the life you
TRULY WANT.
As opposed to a life you've been conditioned to believe you deserve.
But despite all that, and the lack of agreement around what Hypnosis truly is,
there's one thing that it certainly ISN'T, and that's "Mind Control".
That's Myth #1 out of the way...
"USE HYPNOSIS TO HELP
ACCESS YOUR
SUBCONSCIOUS MIND
& NAVIGATE YOUR DESTINATION..."
There's a very common misconception that Direct Hypnosis is some form of mind control.
And that's simply not the case.
Hypnosis is all about "Mind Facilitation".
Essentially, working with your subconscious mind & allowing external help/support to guide you towards your end goal.
A bit like a Sat-Nav in a car.
It's there to support & assist you with your journey & to help you get to your destination in
the most efficient way.
But ultimately,
if you choose to not engage with it & not work with it, the Sat-Nav doesn't just take over.
You still remain in complete control of the car.
(Despite continuing to making the wrong turns.
Or in the comparison of life, the wrong decisions.)
The same is true with Hypnosis.
You maintain control,
but just allow & accept the assistance that's there to help direct you towards your goal in a more efficient way...
"ACTIVATE YOUR IMAGINATION &
FORMULATE YOUR FUTURE..."
You also don't feel any different than you normally would whilst experiencing Hypnosis.
There's another common misconception that you don't feel conscious during Hypnosis.
Again, not true.
You're not "out of it".
You're not "away with the fairies".
You're not "hallucinating".
It's a very conscious & interactive process with you maintaining a full level of awareness.
As mentioned earlier, it's simply just the
Activation Of Your Imagination
to alter your perception of "reality"...
(whatever "reality" means! haha)
But the main thing to remember in all of this is,
it's NOT Mind Control.
It's simply Mind Facilitation,
whilst you are in a receptive state of suggestion which you have allowed, accepted & agreed to...
